Dear Specialist Colleague:

Consultant Specialists of BC has elicited further clarification that was not immediately apparent from the summary document prepared for physicians by Doctors of BC on how the funds in the proposed Physician Master Agreement (PMA) would be allocated to Specialists and our Family Practice colleagues.

The tentative PMA would split total funding more or less evenly, with approximately equivalent dollars per FTE allocated to all physicians.

Doctors of BC confirms a resulting 22.8% increase in funding to family physicians and a 12.8% increase in funding to Specialists based on this methodology and because the average Family Physician earns less than the average Specialist.

We hope that this additional elucidation is helpful to your understanding of the PMA. The ratification period closes on December 5 so please vote.

Dr Chris Hoag
